Missions Timeline

So, you’re probably wondering where in the world we are, how we got there, and how long we’re going to be there – I want to help you! For a general timeline of our location at any given time since we began traveling missions, keep scrolling.

January 23rd, 2017: We start full-time faith-based international mission work by boarding the Spirit Airlines flight 231 from Atlanta to Fort Lauderdale. (See my blog from Fort Lauderdale here)

January 24th, 2017: We begin our first full day as international Jesus-workers 🙂

January 24th, 2017 – April 3rd, 2017: We work as Gospel-sharers in Matagalpa, Matagalpa Department, Nicaragua with occasional trips to outlying areas. We do work as the Lord leads – just expressing the love of Jesus to the poor, middle-class, and rich on the streets, going house to house in the villages, singing, playing, and preaching in the local churches, encouraging locals in their faith, and spurring missionaries on to do their true work, all the while learning from every experience. And of course, building life-long relationships that we look forward to reuniting with.

April 4th, 2017: We leave Nicaragua to head back to the States. Check out my post from the Managua airport here.

April 5th, 2017 – June 1st, 2017: We work as Gospel-sharers in the North Georgia mountains. I sing and play in various places, pretty much wherever the Lord leads. We make new friends and reunite with old ones. We get refreshed from our season in Matagalpa, while although it was amazing, it was tiring. I also recover from the recurring symptoms of a tropical disease I contracted while in Nicaragua. I try to catch up on the weeks of school I missed during the time we didn’t have internet in Nicaragua, as well as the days we were just too busy. We try not to make this a season where we go back home and recover, but rather, a season to minister here.

June 1st, 2017 – June 3rd, 2017: We embark on a road trip from Georgia to South Dakota, taking hotel stops in Illinois and Nebraska. We eventually arrived in South Dakota with loaded van and trailer in the late afternoon of the third day of driving.

June 3rd, 2017 – July 10th, 2017: We stay in the Black Hills of South Dakota ministering to people everywhere and making connections that last – both in our small town and on the Native American reservation. We soak in the beauty, which ministers to our souls, and minister to other souls around us. We have the privilege of buying and selling items; using the opportunity to minister to hearts across the state. I catch up with a lot of school, while much work is done with the house and our equipment as we minister.

July 10th, 2017 to July 18th, 2017: We traverse the back-country of the Northwest on our way up to Alaska. This first involves heading west through Wyoming and into Yellowstone, where we spent two nights before heading north into Montana and spending a night. After crossing the border into Alberta, we spent a few nights in Canada. After that came two nights in Alaska – all of this in a tent!!

July 18th, 2017: We gratefully pull our van into Kasilof on the Kenai Peninsula at my great-aunt and -uncle’s property in the area before sleeping very well.

July 19th, 2017 to August 13th, 2017: We stay and work in the beautiful Kenai Peninsula, build relationships, help our relatives there, and follow the Holy Spirit’s lead. We see the Lord provide over and over again, and we are once again strengthened in our resolve to continue following His still, small voice, no matter how long and far it takes us. We do inner healing and deliverance with some divine connections and some of our new friends are from or live in foreign countries or other states, which may help determine our itinerary.

August 13th, 2017 to August 21st, 2017: We feel the leading of the Holy Spirit to head back to South Dakota for the fall, so we begin to road-trip down there. Words cannot explain the beauty we feel on this trip. It wasn’t scenic beauty, although that was pretty lavish. It was the beauty of the Holy Spirit in orchestrating what would become a 3 1/2 day “Holy Detour” just within British Colombia! After an awesome Spirit-led journey down the Alcan, we made it to South Dakota at 3:00 in the morning. We got some sleep pretty easy 🙂

August 21st, 2017 to October 16th, 2017: We come back into the Dakota Territory hoping to finish what we started, so to speak, in coming up here originally. We are doing inner healing and deliverance, playing and singing in local churches, and loving the ones in front of us. We also fit in a visit or two to the Lakota Sioux Nation. So many valuable relationships were made and re-established, and we look forward to seeing these beautiful people once again.

October 16th, 2017 to October 19th, 2017: We once again set out on a cross-country road trip, this time toward Georgia. We are so grateful for everything that happened in South Dakota, and we are waiting in excited expectation for the Lord’s acts in Georgia. We stay with an A Candle in the Window family on the way, and have amazing encounters on the way.

October 19th, 2017 to April 9th, 2018: We stay in the North Georgia Mountains once again, playing, singing, preaching, and building valuable relationships. Though we want to head out again to do ministry further abroad, the Lord keeps us in Georgia for nearly six months. We also all recover from various attacks against our health, storing up energy for what lies ahead 🙂

April 9th, 2018 to April 25th, 2018: The Lord takes us on an extremely spontaneous trip to Nicaragua–so spontaneous that we actually booked our flights right around six hours before our plane took off. This trip started with just my dad and I ministering for about a week with our good friend Isaac Prather and his two sons on the east coast with the Miskito people. The two of us were then reunited with my mom and were able to head to Matagalpa, which is where we lived in 2017 for three months, to re-establish relationships and witness miracles and salvations.

April 25th, 2018 to present: The three of us arrive back in Georgia, this having been one of our most tiring trips to Nicaragua with the travel on the east coast of the country. We recover from our trip and recharge for the next leg of our journey, while praying into what that might be.
