Reader, let me put forth a question to you. Why are you a Christian? Because you want to get out of hell, or because you love Christ? Think about it – long and hard. I’ll wait.
Salvation is not a mere ‘get-out-of-hell-free’ card. If you view it as such, it is quite possible that you are not saved, and even if you are, you are completely missing out on absolutely everything. As a Christian, Christ not only is our Savior and Lord, but he is to be the object of our love and adoration. The One who gave His life for our redemption ought to be worthy of nothing less than our fullest devotion and love.
